How Pearlson Shiplift Systems Work

A Pearlson Shiplift and Transfer System improves shipyard efficiency and reduces operating expenses — proven over 60+ years of successful use. Systems are designed and built by Pearlson; we provide authorized agency support.

Pearlson Shiplift Installation

Vessel Approaches the Shiplift

The vessel is maneuvered into position and floated over the submerged shiplift platform, guided by the shipyard's dockmaster team.

Platform Lifts the Vessel

Synchronous motor-brake assemblies activate wire rope hoists simultaneously, lifting the vessel evenly out of the water. All motors work in unison regardless of load distribution.

Transfer to Work Berth

The vessel is transferred via rail-based carriages, SPMT, or hydraulic systems to a designated work berth — enabling multiple vessels to be serviced simultaneously.

Maintenance & Repair Operations

With the vessel drydocked at the work berth, the shipyard performs all required maintenance, repairs, inspections, and upgrades with full access to the hull.

Launch & Return to Service

After completion, the vessel is transferred back to the shiplift platform and safely launched back into the water, ready for service.
